Drones: So Many Useful Applications – AND Security Concerns

Drones are a type of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) that can be equipped with additional equipment to perform a variety of tasks while airborne. Because they can perform tasks considered dangerous, expensive or time consuming for humans to perform efficiently, drones offer sensational value to many industries.

From agricultural and air traffic control to entertainment and emergency services, there are innumerable uses for drones that have a positive impact on society. Not only can they save time and money, they can save crops, animals, and even human lives.

At the same time, there are all manner of potential safety and privacy risks that come with using this versatile technology. Because they are relatively affordable and easy to use, criminal are taking full advantage of this technology for their own aims.

In fact, our research at SACS Consulting and Investigative Services, Inc. (SACS) reveals that drones are the fastest evolving security threat in the United States.

Unauthorized surveillance is becoming a common problem. Drug dealers are using drones for stealthy delivery. Prisons report contraband being smuggled to prisoners via drone.
